How can I ever top this weekend? Well, I could think of a couple of ways but for now let me bask in the glory of my insanely long glorious weekend!
“Hey, want to do something Friday?”
That’s how the conversation started at 3pm Thursday evening with my bestie. Less than 24 hrs later, we found ourselves at the beach!!
Let me say that there is never a dull moment when we get together….laughing hysterically and fighting over music in the car. Endless selfies and never a normal conversation. You know that saying “I’d like to be a mouse in the corner”? No you wouldn’t! Even a mouse would close his ears! You have to have one of those friends, and my sweet Amy happens to be mine.
After a day and a half at the beach, we drove home high on Red Bull and Sweet Tarts (yellow is definitely the most sour! Haha Amy) and sunburnt till we barely recognized ourselves.
Sunday was spent with my sweet kids and nieces at church, the skate park, and swimming at the river.
Yes, my son got a skateboard this weekend! I don’t think I am mentally capable of watching my son break a bone while trying to be Rob Dyrdek, which happens to be one of his role models. I’m still not quite sure if that’s a good or bad thing, but he told me that he wanted to have his own Christian show on Mtv…..haha. Oh, his sweet little innocent mind!!!
For those that follow my blog (and thank you my faithful followers because as of today I have 1,386 followers on my Facebook page) you have read my story of the rock I found in the river that said “God is near to the brokenhearted”. The kids and I got the awesome idea that we would make our own as a way to tell strangers about God, so we spent the evening last night making rocks.
(Well, my son and niece decorated them while I was at choir practice.) Today we strategically placed many rocks back into nature today with the Word of God written on them. Before we left, we saw two people pick them up and read them….kids were so excited.
Honestly, it’s a perfect way to “pay it foward” and I couldn’t be more pleased to brighten someone’s day in the mean time!
We spent the day hiking my favorite place on earth! Kids have never been there, so I was ecstatic to be able to spend the day with them as we swam and hiked and had a picnic at the top of the falls. Poor kids, my fear of heights kept them from getting too close to the edge as I screamed and gasped every time they took a step. (Yes, I’m terrified of heights and my favorite place on earth is the top of waterfalls. Go figure)
Kids spent hours jumping off the rope swings into the mystical green water…seemed like it was right out of Narnia. I can’t explain to you the beauty and the sense of peace I feel every time I step into this forest full of flowers and wildlife. The sounds of the water, the birds singing, and the occasional snake couldn’t keep us away.
To say that I am blessed….well, that just doesn’t do my life justice. I am so happy. God has been incredibly good to me and I am eternally grateful.
This day wouldn’t be complete without telling the people I love THANK YOU….from my whole heart, I thank you for serving our country.
To my favorite soldier, I am so proud of you!! Always have and always will be!
I hope each and everyone of you had a safe and happy Memorial Day!
Summer break is so close I an taste it!! Whoo hooooo!!
Until next time…..give someone you love a great big hug!!
I’m going to take a 3 day nap!!!!!
