We make it a habit to hold hands and pray at dinner, whether it's at home or at a restaurant. Last week as we were eating after church, the kids and I held hands as we prayed at the restaurant. We have specific people we pray for every time we bow our heads and we don't rush a prayer ever, no matter how hungry we are. This particular day, an elderly gentleman came up to the table and said, "I just wanted to tell you what a beautiful family you have, and thank you for taking the time to pray with them, 'in this day and age' it's not very common for people to be so bold about their religion."
Of course, the first thing Cat did was jump up a give him a great big bear hug like she knew him all of her life. (That's what she does!!) And Adam stood up and shook his hand. The elderly man patted me on my head and told me "thank you for making my day.”
Quite the contrary, he made mine. The rest of the day was honestly one of the best days of my life. (Yes my entire life….inside joke)
Kids and I spent the entire day outside flying on the rope swings, shooting hoops, and at one point I counted 9 kids from all over the neighborhood and some not even from the neighborhood. (not sure where they came from actually) To top off a perfect day we had dinner on the patio with a fire in the fire pit, where my sweet son proclaimed it was the best day ever!
That night while tucking him in, Adam asked if we could pray that we could meet that man again….I told him I know for a fact we will meet him again someday, he said I know where mommy, in Heaven.
If anyone has been fortunate enough to watch God’s Not Dead, there is a verse in the Bible they quoted in Matthew 10:32-33 that says, whosoever acknowledges Me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But whosoever Denies me before others, I will disown before my Father in Heaven.
I went to bed that night thankful that I’m not ashamed to proclaim to anyone that wants to hear about how much I love Jesus!!! I realized something, I’m doing a pretty good job. These memories will last a lifetime. But better than that, my kids are happy and loved…not only by me, but they have been taught that Jesus loved them so much He died for them. (And as Caty and Adam says, That’s a whole Lotta love!)
If you haven’t heard this song, I suggest listen to it. I heard it for the first time Tuesday morning while taking the kids to school.
What does your love look like?
Until next time my friends….tell someone you love them. Give a random compliment. Make someone’s day!
(Don’t forget to pray!)
